Red Bull seeks solutions to revive performance ahead of Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull Racing, acknowledges the need to simplify certain aspects of the RB20 car ahead of the upcoming Grand Prix in Baku. The team, home to driver Checo Pérez, is facing challenges after a winless streak for both Pérez and Max Verstappen, with McLaren closing in just eight points behind.

Horner expressed concern over McLaren’s strong performance with drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, prompting Red Bull to take action to regain lost ground in both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships. Horner highlighted issues with the car’s balance affecting corner entry, resulting in compromised handling and tire degradation.

In an effort to address these issues, Horner emphasized the need to simplify certain aspects of the car design, citing McLaren’s more straightforward approach as a potential model for improvement. Both Verstappen and Pérez are actively involved in identifying weaknesses and working with engineers to rectify them.

Despite the recent setbacks, Horner remains optimistic about Red Bull’s capabilities, attributing Verstappen’s dedication and maturity to the team’s commitment to return to form. The team’s performance decline has cost valuable points for Pérez and Verstappen, with Verstappen enduring a six-race winless spell, allowing McLaren to narrow the gap in the championship standings.
