Red Bull Racing Adviser Discusses Future of Drivers
In a recent interview with FormulaPassion, Helmut Marko, adviser for Red Bull Racing, addressed the future lineup of the team’s drivers. Marko highlighted the importance of assessing Liam’s performance compared to Yuki’s to determine potential driver pairings. He also mentioned upcoming talents such as Hadjar, Lawson, and Iwasa and the considerations involved in selecting drivers based on contractual obligations.
Regarding former Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo, Marko expressed his observations since Ricciardo left for Renault, noting a perceived loss of winning instinct. Despite Ricciardo’s impressive fastest lap during a race, Marko suggested that Ricciardo’s performance did not reach the level required to return to Red Bull.
In related news, Checo Pérez has renewed his contract with Red Bull for an additional two seasons, as officially announced by the team on social media following the conclusion of the 2024 season. The confirmation of Pérez’s contract extension solidifies Red Bull’s winning lineup for the next two years, positioning it as one of the strongest in the team’s history as they navigate the new regulations expected in 2026.
Pérez’s renewal is attributed to his strong performances and successful partnership with Max Verstappen, making him the best-performing teammate alongside the Dutch driver since Verstappen took on the leading role. Despite speculations about Pérez’s future with Red Bull in 2024, the team affirmed that he would complete the season.
